In addition to the earlier style speedo the tacho is different. On the 70-71 clusters the green / red bands are on a metal disc riveted to the plastic lens.

The orange marks on the speedo are the maximum speed for each of the gears, not necessarily the shift points. I’m guessing the parts department didn’t want to have to deal with another 5sp specific part so the marks disappeared in ’71.
