| Yesterday I attended the Auto Brunch event at St Ives Showground again. It’s still far and away the best cars and coffee event in Sydney. This month was no exception. After about 10 months of horrible weather, we’ve finally had some lovely spring days here in Sydney. It was a perfect day for a car show, the only slight downside was the rural fire service were also taking advantage of the weather doing a controlled burn in the vicinity. At first the event was quite smoky but it soon cleared up. As with last time, it was an official event […] Today I attended the monthly Auto Brunch event at St Ives Showground. This is easily the best cars and coffee event in Sydney. There is always a huge variety on display at this event. This wasn’t the biggest event I can remember, but it probably has the biggest variety. A great example was a timewarp Chrysler Lancer. I don’t recall the last time I saw one of these, especially a car from before Chrysler sold out to Mitsubishi. Both the Mercedes and Citroen Clubs had this event on their club calendar. Like last time, I took my DS to the […] Due to COVID, bad weather and other commitments, it had been a while since I attend the Auto Brunch event at St. Ives showground. March 2021 to be exact. I finally made it back today and as usual it was a great event. Of all the cars and coffee events in Sydney, I think this is by far the best. There is always incredible variety at this show and today was no different. In addition to the show, The Mercedes Club planned an event to watch the sunset and Balmoral beach and then drive over to the event. I didn’t […] I visited the St Ives Auto Brunch event again this month. Like last time, the event was huge – probably slightly bigger this time. Due to other commitments i didn’t even get to see all the cars yet I was there for over two hours. I got there about 7;30AM and there were already queues to get in. While there is a bit of chaos, I like they have not brought in over zealous security guards that would just spoil this event. One thing that would be good would have been if they were to open a few more […] I attended the St Ives Auto Brunch February 2021 event today. This was the first one I have been to since the start of the Coronavirus outbreak. It was also the biggest one by far. There were literally hundreds of cars, even overflowing into other parking areas of St Ives showground. This was also the first time I got there at the starting time – 7:30AM and it was already quite busy. This event is great as there is always so much variety there. And while there are a few cars I see ever time, there are also a lot […] The 2020 March Auto Brunch event at St Ives Showground was the biggest I have attended. I was only able to stay for about forty minutes and cars were already leaving when I arrived, but the total numbers were up on last time’s already large attendance. This month I went in my 450SLC. I perhaps should have taken the 560SEC as there were three other 560SECs in attendance, including another one in Nautical Blue. The other Nautical Blue car had much thinner headlight wipers than my car or the white one. I didn’t get a chance to look at the […] I attended the monthly Auto Brunch event in St. Ives Showground today. This time I took my DS. It was pretty dusty from all the smoke in Sydney, but still got a lot of attention. Even though I have been four times, there can still be a lot of variety and different cars I have not seen before. This month there was a whole line up of Jensen Interceptors. I’m a fan of the interceptor – it’s a big brute of a car combining Italian Styling, British engineering and an American (Chrysler) powertrain. The Mercedes Club also […] Auto Brunch is a monthly cars and coffee event only 10 minutes from where I live. I stopped by the June event today. This is an interesting event in that while there appear to be some regulars there is also a lot of variety in the cars you see each time. As you would expect given the production volume, the MGB was the most popular car there. Even with the MGB you get a bit of variety comparing roadsters, MGB GT, rubber nose etc. This time, it appeared that the Austin Healey club owners must have arranged to go as […] Auto Brunch event is a cars and coffee event held monthly at St. Ives Showground. I attended back in November and enjoyed the day. It’s an easy event, you can drive in and be parked in minutes and leave whenever you like. With over 100 cars on display its a nice way to spend an hour or so. This time I took two of my young children who also enjoyed looking at the cars. We only stayed about 30-40 minutes which was enough to have a wander around and check out the display. As we had another event on […] There has been a cars and coffee event not far from me since 2015. I’ve not had a chance to visit until last weekend. It is called Auto Brunch and is run by the North Shore Sporting Car Club. It’s held on the first Sunday of the month at the St Ives show ground. I was quite impressed with the event and will probably attend again if I can. There were at least 100 cars in attendance. Unlike the trend of overzealous security and restrictions of when you can come and leave, it is very informal. The biggest surprise was […] | |
