Rolls Royce Club Federal Rally 2022 display

Yesterday I was in Canberra to attend Wheels 2022 with the Mercedes Club ACT. I found out that this weekend was also the Rolls Royce Club Federal Rally. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but the public display was about a 10 minute walk from Queanbeyan showground. Based on that proximity, it would have been almost criminal not to go along and see the display.

Given the wild weather of the past few weeks, I was impressed with the number of cars sporting interstate plates. There were plenty of cars on Victorian, Queensland and South Australian registration. This is […]

Mercedes Club drive to Peats Ridge

The Mercedes Club organized a joint drive with the Rolls Royce Owners club to the Corrugated Cafe in Peats Ridge. Peats Ridge is about 90km north of Sydney. This was one of the first drives after the COVOID19 restrictions were eased. A couple of the members of the club were trying to organize a line up of W126s at the event. The event seemed like a good opportunity to see some Rolls Royces and give the 560SEL a good long drive after I got the car back from some preventative maintenance.

Taking the 560SEL also gave an opportunity to take […]

2018 Rolls Royce Display Day

The Rolls Royce Owners Club run an annual display/picnic day at Historic Linnwood House. I’ve been a couple of times before and it is always a nice informal day. In some ways it is like a mini all British day. The highlight is obviously the Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. They also invite guest marques from other British brands like Rovers, Wolseley and so on. They also sometimes feature American luxury cars.

This year the numbers of Rolls Royces and Bentleys was down considerably. From what I understand this wasn’t the actual concours day, and I’m not sure if this […]

2017 Rolls Royce Concours

The 2017 Rolls Royce Concours was held at historic Linnwood House, Western Sydney. As usual, they had a number of guest clubs including the Antique and Classic Car Club, Rover, Alvis, Wolseley, Jaguar, Range Rover etc. For some reason the Rover display was very small – perhaps they had another event running at the same time? I attended in 2015 when the Rover club was also a guest and they had a large selection that year.

This is a nice event. It is not well known by the general public and has a relaxed atmosphere. As usual there was […]

Rolls Royce Club drive to the Gosford Car Musem

Today I was fortunate enough to join the Rolls Royce club for their drive to the new Gosford Car Museum. I am not a member of the club but was invited by a friend who is. I had wanted to visit the new museum since it opened a few weeks ago and a drive up the old pacific highway with some Rolls Royce’s and Bentleys sounded like a great idea. They had a nice selection of cars, mostly Silver Shadows and Silver Spirits but also a 1930’s car (from memory a 25/30) and a couple of older Bentleys (an S […]

2015 Rolls Royce Owners Club Concours

I have always admired Rolls Royce and Bentley automobiles, and was impressed with the display at the British Car Show, so decided to go down and see the 2015 Rolls Royce Owners Club concours. The event was held at Linnwood House, which is a historic house located in Sydney’s western suburbs. The House has some very nice grounds that are perfect for holding a car show.

The show was worth the trip and despite early rain had a good showing of cars. As well as RROC, the Rover Club and the Daimler club had displays on, and was able […]

2015 British Car Display Day

The British Car display is probably the best show each year in Sydney, and this year was no different. Although the Eastern Creek show is bigger and has a more varied mix of vehicles, plus the parade laps to see the cars moving, The British show has more cars that you keep coming back to have another look and always seems to have something new.

Last year the show was rained out, but there was no chance of that for the 2015 British car display. The biggest showing was put on by the Jaguar club, with a nice selection of […]
