2023 Shannons Eastern Creek Car Show

The Shannons Eastern Creek car show is always one of the biggest events in the calendar for the Sydney car scene. I’ve been going for years, but this is only my second time displaying a car. This year I took my 1987 Mercedes 560SEC and brought my three children along with me. Last year I took my 250SE. When you display a car, you get to take it on a parade lap of the track.

This year the show changed quite a lot after many years of using the same formula. I don’t think these changes were for the […]

2022 Shannons Eastern Creek Car Show

Today was the 2022 Shannons Eastern Creek Car Show. This is the biggest car show that I know of in Sydney, and is held at Eastern Creek Raceway. I’ve been going for years, but have never entered a car. All those previous times I have been a spectator, most recently in 2018. The 2021 and 2020 events were cancelled due to coronavirus and I was away for the 2019 event.

One of the advantages of entering a car is you get to take it on a parade lap around the race track. Each club gets a specific slot to do […]

2018 British Car Show, Sydney

The 2018 British Car show was held on Sunday at the Kings School. This is probably the best car show of the year in Sydney. As usual all the British marques were there. Also as usual was the lovely display of cars. Overall it was a great day with excellent weather and interesting cars to see. Having said that, the Kings School made some changes this year that were not for the better.

This year the Jaguars were moved from the top paddock to the middle one. This pushed clubs like Rolls Royce and Daimler down to the bottom paddock. […]

2018 Shannons Eastern Creek Car Show

The Shannons Eastern Creek car show is probably the largest show in NSW each year. It is notable for its variety. Generally the cars on display are great examples of everyday models that are now rarely seen on the roads. When was the last time you saw a Morris Minor, Ford Model A or Leyland P76?

It is also a family oriented event with double decker bus rides around the track, face painting, clowns etc. Those who enter a car in the event get to do a parade lap around the track. These events are also probably going to […]

2018 French Car Show Sydney

My car show season normally kicks off with the French car show. The show is timed for Bastille day, so always occurs mid July. It was a lovely sunny day for the 2018 French Car Show, so the turnout was great. This was in contrast to 2016 (the last one I attended) where poor weather kept the numbers down.

I took the DS for the first time since 2014. It was looking great in its new paint job, the Rouge Massena really coming alive out in the sun. I’ve noticed that since DS values have more than doubled over the […]

2018 CARnivale

Adding overzealous private security guards rarely enhances an event and the 2018 CARnivale was no exception. This event used to be held in the city and was relocated to Parramatta Park a few years ago. It is now much smaller and the cars are squeezed into a small area so unnecessary security barriers can be put up to contain them.

This year we saw the farce of thousands of people wanting to go and see the cars but being held up due to some kind of security ‘all clear’. Spectators were being yelled at and I can’t imagine it was […]

2017 Rolls Royce Concours

The 2017 Rolls Royce Concours was held at historic Linnwood House, Western Sydney. As usual, they had a number of guest clubs including the Antique and Classic Car Club, Rover, Alvis, Wolseley, Jaguar, Range Rover etc. For some reason the Rover display was very small – perhaps they had another event running at the same time? I attended in 2015 when the Rover club was also a guest and they had a large selection that year.

This is a nice event. It is not well known by the general public and has a relaxed atmosphere. As usual there was […]

2011 British Car Show

The 2017 British Car Show was the 37th such event. The first one I attended was the 2011 British Car show. This website did not exist in 2011, so the photos were never posted. Its interesting to see many of the same cars are still attending the show. Many of these are now sporting classic registration as NSW has adopted a workable system. The W.O. Bentley that I admired this year was also in attendance in 2011, along with another car. In addition, there was a nice display of Jensen Interceptors, something missing in 2017. The Daimler display was also […]

2017 British Car Day

The annual British car display day at the Kings School is not be missed. Over 1500 classic British cars, trucks and commercial vehicles. The weather was lovely so the turnout was excellent. Last year, the show had to be postponed due to a sodden field.

Not only is the display quite a sight, but its one of the few times of the year you’ll sit in traffic behind a Jowett and have a Daimler behind you. One of the highlights was seeing a Bentley 6.5 liter in the Vintage Sports Car Club. I was hoping to see a Derby Bentley […]

250SE Concours runner up

I heard this week that the 250SE was the runner up in its category at the recent German Car show and Mercedes-Benz Concours. The German Car show functions as the 2016 MBCNSW Concours. The category was for the W111/W112 Coupes and Cabriolets. This was the first time I’ve displayed the car with the correct headlights and wheel trims and the car is the better for it.

The winner in the class was the Orange/Red 220SE Cabriolet which is in exceptional condition.
